Submitting to God

We live in a day and age in which nobody seems to want to submit to anyone.

The word submit seems offensive to some people.

We don't like the idea of falling under the authority of another person.

In short,  We don't want someone else telling us what to do.

We want to be in charge.

We want to be the boss of our lives.

Sometimes, however, we don't always get what we want.

We are not truly in control of our lives.   We can still make decisions that can have long lasting effects, but you know what?   Our lives are in God's hands.
We need Him in every area of our lives.

We must submit to the Lord.

James 4:7-10 says, "Submit yourselves, then, to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.  Grieve, mourn and wail.  Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves before the Lord,  and He will lift you up."

Humbling ourselves before the Lord is a great place to start because then we will be able to submit to His authority.

Is there something in your life preventing you from submitting to God fully?

Lord,
We humble ourselves before You.
We submit to You.
Lead us and direct our steps.
In Jesus name
Amen
