Finding Hope in Jesus

Sometimes it seems easy to look down on other people because of their sin.  We don't like to look at our own sin and sometimes we even seem to pretend that we have everything under control when it comes to sin.

I remember reading in the book of Luke when someone came up to Jesus and told Him about how Pilate had killed some Galileans as they were making a sacrifice at the Temple.

We find Jesus response in Luke 13:2 where He said,

"Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way?  I tell you, no!  But unless you repent, you too will perish.

Or those eighteen who died when the tower of Siloam fell on them-do you think they were more guilty than all the others in Jerusalem?

I tell you, no!  But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

The Lord sees sin as sin.

Sin is missing the mark.

The Bible is clear we have all sinned.  Romans 3:23 says, "for all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God."

The wages of sin is death.  Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We are all sinners and are deserving of going to a literal hell.  We deserve being eternally separated from the Lord God.

God is Holy and anything sinful can not enter into His presence.

There is good news for us though.  Actually it is great news and I hope you chose to accept it.

Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

God has a great love for each one of us.  He doesn't want to see anyone go to hell.

God sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die on an old rugged cross for your sins.

Jesus died for each one of us.  He shed His blood for you, me, and the whole world.

He wants us to repent of our sin, that means to turn away from it, and turn to Jesus trusting in His sacrifice on the cross for us.

He paid the price.  He took the punishment that I so rightly deserve and what you too deserve.

Maybe you are hurting tonight and you feel angry.

Maybe you feel as your world is crumbling around you and it feels like there is nowhere to run from the pain you feel.

There is somewhere to run too.

The Lord Jesus is waiting for you to come to Him.

He has His arms open wide to welcome you.

There is hope in Jesus Christ.

I hope that you realize the one important thing I would like to let you know from the bottom of my heart and that is

Jesus Loves You.

Lord,
Thank You for loving us so greatly that You sent Jesus to save us.
You alone are the true and living God.  You invite us to come to You to find peace and rest.
Draw people to You, Lord.
Thank You for Your saving grace.
Bless all those who read this blog.
In Jesus name
Amen.
