When we think of sacrifices our minds go back to the time of Temple worship. Where people would bring goats, sheep, or birds to sacrifice at the alter of the Lord.
The Apostle Paul urges believers to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. We are to be holy and pleasing to God.
Romans 12:1-2 says,
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's
mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices,
holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual
act of worship.
Do not conform any longer to the pattern
of this world, buy be transformed
by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve
what God's will is-
His good; pleasing and perfect will."
We who are believers in Christ should not conform any longer to the pattern of this world.
We are to be in this world, but not of it.
We are to be different from the world by following the Lord and do what pleases Him.
The Holy Spirit will help us renew our minds and He will help us live for the Lord.
Lord,
Help us to live our lives for You.
We offer our bodies to You as a living sacrifice.
Use us for Your honor and glory.
