Who Are You Listening To?

We live in an upside down world.  Things that are right are called wrong and the things that are wrong are called right.  It can be very confusing and in fact I think that there are indeed a lot of confused people in our world today.  Many have been deceived and are being led away from the truth and what is right in the eyes of Almighty God.

We as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ know that this world is not our home.  The believer's Home is in Heaven where we will be with the Lord forever.  We are just pilgrims passing through this world.  Even though we know that this world is not our home there are many things that we recognize as being just plain wrong.  We can know this because we can compare things with the Word of God, the Bible.  We must not allow popular culture to mold our thinking or the media  either.  We must read and study God's Word and then we will be able to better discern what is right and what is wrong.  We must also listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit who indwells everyone who has trusted Christ as their Lord and Savior.

There are many bad messages that bombard us everyday.  We have a choice of who we will listen to.  We can either listen to the world and their view or we can listen to the truth that comes from God Himself.  We need to pay attention and not turn away from what God deems to be right.  There is a right way to live and there is a wrong way.  We may not like to think so, but at the end of the day we are all accountable to a Holy and Just God.  We must all stand before Him one day for it is appointed for each of us to die but once and then the Judgment.  Those of us who have repented of our sins and have trusted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior will be ushered into Heaven because we trusted in Jesus finished work on the Cross for our sins.  Those who have rejected Him and His gift of salvation and Grace will be sent out of His presence and placed in an eternal literal hell.

I am reminded of Isaiah 5:20-24 which says,

"20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks,

23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.

24 Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the LORD Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel."

Whether people want to believe it or not we are still all accountable for our words, our actions, and how we believe.  We are accountable to our God and Creator.  The truth seems to get pushed aside for the sake of a lie and that always has disastrous results.

The Day is coming when the Lord Jesus will return as the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  It will be a great and Awesome Day for all of us who have put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  It will be a horrible and awful day for those who have rejected Him.  We should not rejoice in that.  It saddens me that people continue to reject the truth of who God is and to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Those who are bent on doing evil and wickedness will reap what they have sown, unfortunately for them.  We as believers in Christ must cling to the Lord Jesus in these difficult times and we must not give up in proclaiming the truth of the Gospel to as many as we can.  The time is running out to do so.  The Day of the Lord's return is drawing near.

Let us take courage and set our eyes upon the prize, our Lord Jesus, and live for Him each and everyday by faith.  Sure,  the world may be falling apart, but our God is mighty to save all of those who put their faith in Him.  Let's continue to live by faith in the Lord Jesus and continue to trust in Him each and everyday.

Lord,

We chose to listen to You and Your Word.

You are Holy O Lord our God.

You Word is the truth.

The Truth will set us free.

When the Son sets us free we are free indeed.

Thank You Lord for Your goodness and mercy.

We praise Your Name.

You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.

We pray for those who are not listening to the truth of who You are.

We pray for people to come to know the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Help us to discern what is right and what is wrong.

Help us to walk in the Holy Spirit for Your Glory, Honor, and Praise.

Forgive us when we stumble and get tripped up by sin.

Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins, past, present, and future.

Thank You that You rose from the dead Lord Jesus and One Day You will come back.

Come Quickly O Lord.

In Jesus precious Holy Name,

Amen.
