I read the Bible to my mother every evening. This has been something that I have done for several years now. Tonight I read Philippians chapter 4. This is probably one of my favorite passages of Scripture.

The Apostle Paul urges his readers to rejoice in the Lord. That is a great reminder for all believers in Jesus Christ. We have much to rejoice in the Lord for. God loved us so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect sinless life and Jesus went and laid down His life for our sins.
In Christ we have forgiveness of our sins and we have an eternal Home in Heaven. We have a lot to be thankful for. We have many reasons to rejoice. God is a good God and He cares for us. He loves us. He cares for us. He watches over us.
Then as Paul tells his readers to rejoice in the Lord he also tells them not to be anxious about anything. There are many things in life that can cause us to be anxious. There are health concerns or those dreaded medical test we have to go through once in a while.
There are things that we see or hear on the news that can stir up anxiety and worry deep within us. There are many things that are going on in our lives and in our world today that can drag us down a long road of worry, fear, and anxiety.
Paul tells us that instead of being filled with anxiety we should take everything to the Lord in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, and we ought to present our request to the Lord. When we do that the peace of God which goes beyond all understanding will guard our very hearts and our minds in Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus will gives us His peace through the Holy Spirit when we are in personal relationship with Him. We can take confidence in Jesus Christ knowing that no matter how hard things get that He will always be with us through those times. We just need to trust Him and come to Him in prayer.
Let us cast our cares and anxieties at the feet of Jesus and rejoice in the Lord.
When times get tough and they sometimes do we must turn towards the Lord Jesus in prayer. He is the One we can trust. He is our hope in this dark world. What an Awesome Savior He is!
Lord,
Help us not to be anxious about anything. Help us to come to You in prayer.
We praise You name and Thank You for all that You have done and continue to do.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
