We must remember the best way to combat worry and fear is with prayer. Getting alone with the Lord is a great place to start. We must also be willing to listen to what He has to say to us during those quiet moments we spend with Him. Far too often we end up doing all of the talking, but listening is also very important. We need to have our Bible's open and actually read the Word and allow the Lord to speak to us through it.
I am reminded of Psalm 37:1-7 which says,
1 Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong;
2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.
3 Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
4 Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this:
6 He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.
It is very easy for us to find something to fret about. We can fret about our leaders and the direction they seem to be going. We can fret about our health and well being. We can fret about the economy and even about our job security. The list could go on and on.
We have a choice to make. We can choice to fret and worry or we can trust in the Lord. The Lord is bigger than anything that causes us to fret. The Lord is more powerful than anything that could cause us to worry.
We need to be still and wait patiently for the Lord to act on our behalf. We need to keep praying and wait on Him. He is still God and He knows exactly what He is doing and He will accomplish what He is doing in His timing.
Let us trust the Lord and do good for Him.
Let us commit ourselves to the Lord.
Lord,
You are Holy and Just in Your judgments.
Forgive us when we sin against You and fail You.
Thank You Lord Jesus for dying for our sins on the Cross.
We praise Your name.
Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast Spirit within us (Psalm 51:10).
Lead us and guide us by Your Holy Spirit.
Help us not to worry and fret about things we can't control.
We trust in You O Lord for everything.
For You are our provider.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
