Praying For Our Leaders

Today is the day in the United States of America where we saw a new President take office and the former President leave office in a peaceful transition.  I did get to watch the inauguration on the television today.  There were some protesters around, but over all things went smoothly around the ceremonies anyway.

During my Bible reading this evening I got to read the 2 chapter of the Book of I Timothy.  I thought it was kind of interesting that this Chapter would come up on a day such as this.  The Lord does work in mysterious ways indeed.

I Timothy 2:1-6 says,

"1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—

2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,

4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus,

6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.

The Apostle Paul urged young Timothy to pray for all people especially leaders and all of those in positions of authority.  We must pray for our new President and his family and all of our leaders.
We must pray that the Lord would direct them and work through them for His glory, honor, and praise.

We need to pray for the people of our nation and that healing would begin to take place.  I pray that people from all over would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  For the is only One name under Heaven which people must be saved by and that is Jesus Christ.

Let us pray for our men and women in law enforcement and their families.  Let us pray for Congress and those in State, and Local Governments as well.  Pray for Church leaders as well and all believers in Jesus Christ.

Our world needs to know the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Pray for boldness that we believers may be witnesses for the Lord in this increasingly hostile and dark world.

Lord, Heavenly, Father , Almighty God,

We come humbly to Your throne of Grace.

There are many people hurting in our world this very night.

There is fighting and strife.

There is anger and pain.

We cry out to You O Lord our God for Your help in this time of trouble.

We uplift our new President and his family.

Protect him, guide him, direct his steps, lead him to do Your will O God.

We uplift all of those in leadership.

We pray for the United States of America.

We come to You Lord in repentance of our sins.

Forgive us O Lord for turning away from You and Your Word.

Please heal our land.

Draw more people to You Lord through Jesus Christ.

We pray for boldness in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those around us.

We pray for people in all nations and believers in Christ throughout the world.

We uplift holy hands to You in worship O Lord our God.

There is no other God, but You and You alone.

We ask that You touch those who are facing illness.

We pray for healing of those suffering from various diseases.

We pray for Your will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

Come quickly Lord Jesus.

In the name that is above all names we pray,

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen.
