God's Perfect Timing

We have all heard that age old saying, "Timing is everything."  Timing is certainly an important factor to our lives.  When we cook a meal we have to know how long to cook whatever we are making.  If we cook our meal too long it will end up burned and if we don't cook it long enough it just won't be good.

I have been thinking about God's timing lately.  The Lord's timing is not our timing.  We want things to happen in an instant at times, but God makes us wait.  Sometimes we have to wait a long time for His promises to be fulfilled.  You see, God's ways are higher than our ways and his thoughts are greater than our thoughts.

The Lord knows the beginning to the very end.  He is working on things behind the scenes.  He gets other people ready and He is getting doors of opportunities opened for us to enter in.  The Lord is also working on us while we wait for Him.  The Lord always keeps His promises, always.  We may have to wait for a while.  We need to keep praying to the Lord and we also need to trust Him.

Galatians 4:4-7 says,

"4 But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,

5 to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.

6 Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”

7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir."

When the time was right God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into this world.  God demonstrated His great love for the world by sending Jesus to save us.  Jesus came as a baby born of a virgin.  He lived a perfect and sinless life.  Jesus went obediently to the Cross where He shed His blood and died for my sins, your sins, and the sins of the whole world.  Everyone who makes Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior will be saved.  We must put our faith and trust in Jesus finished work on the Cross.

We know that God raised Jesus from the dead on the third day and One Day perhaps very soon Jesus will return to establish His Kingdom upon the earth in full completion.  Jesus will come to Judge the living and the dead.  Everyone who puts their faith and trust in Jesus Christ will live with Jesus in Heaven for all eternity and all of those who rejected Jesus will be eternally separated from God and placed in a literal Hell.

All of this has been and will be done in God's perfect timing.  It is up to us to trust God and receive the forgiveness of our sins by repenting of our sins and trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

Throughout the Advent season we reflected on the Love, Joy, Peace, and Hope that are available to each of us that have put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  We know that the Lord loves us with a  deep unconditional love.  He gives us Joy in our hearts because we belong to Him.  He gives us a peace that surpasses all understanding that nothing can take away.  The Lord gives us hope for forgiveness of our sins by His sacrifice and a Home in Heaven to be with Him forever.

Luke 2:21-40 says,

"21 On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise the child, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he was conceived.

22 When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord

23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”),

24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”

25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him.

26 It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah.

27 Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,

28 Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

29 “Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you may now dismissc your servant in peace.

30 For my eyes have seen your salvation,

31 which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:

32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.”

33 The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.

34 Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: “This child is destined to cause the
falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,

35 so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”

36 There was also a prophet, Anna, the daughter of Penuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,

37 and then was a widow until she was eighty-four.d She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.

38 Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.

39 When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.

40 And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him."

I am reminded of Simeon who was a man that was promised by God that he would not die until he saw the Lord's Christ.  There Simeon was praying and waiting for God's promise to be fulfilled.  We are not told how long he had to wait.  It could have been weeks, months, or maybe even years.

We don't like waiting very much, but sometimes it is good to wait.  We can learn a lot by waiting.  We learn to trust and lean on the Lord more during our season of waiting.  The Lord can use this time of waiting to strengthen us Spiritually.

God doesn't waste time.  He uses it to His advantage.  The Lord is still at work in our lives and also in the lives of those all around us even if we don't see it right off.  The Lord will always answer a promise.

Simeon received his promise one day when Mary and Joseph brought in Jesus to the Temple to present Him to the Lord.  The Holy Spirit identified Jesus to Simeon.  This was what Simeon was waiting for.  He was waiting for Jesus.

There are many people waiting for Jesus and they may not even know that they are waiting for Him because they haven't heard the good news of Jesus Christ.  There are many people who need a Savior and that is Jesus Christ.  We believers in Christ have a great message to share with everyone around us.

How important it is for each of us to recognize that Jesus Christ is the Savior before we die and leave this world.

There is coming a time when it will be too late.  The day of salvation is always today.  People need Jesus in order to be saved.  The body of Christ must stand up and proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ.

The time to act is now.  The Lord Jesus will come soon.  Let us love the Lord Jesus with all of our being and love others and He so loved us.

Have you received Jesus Christ offer of salvation and a eternal Home in Heaven?

Lord,
Thank You that Your timing is perfect.
Thank You Jesus for coming to save us from our sins.
Lead us and guide us and may Your will be done.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
