There are many things and people in our world today that are trying very hard to gain our attention. Many companies use advertisements to try to get us to use their products. They spend millions of dollars just to try to convince us that their product is so much more superior than that of their competitor's product. Even television shows have their own commercials trying to get people to watch their show instead of another show on at the same time, but on an another station.
We are surrounded by things trying to get our attention at all times it seems nowadays. We even have people in our lives that want our time. Our family, friends, and people at work want our attention and they should get some of our time. There is something good about good uplifting relationships, but sometimes the relationships are a little bit strained for one reason or an other.
I was thinking about these things and all the distractions that come against us each and everyday. Sometimes we get so distracted by things and people that we forget about our relationship with Jesus. There are certainly many things trying to get our attention, but shouldn't our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ take top priority. We should be seeking Him first and then we many be better prepared to deal with the other things and people trying to get our attention.
I am reminded of Revelation 3:20 which says,
"Here I am!
I stand at the door and knock,
If anyone hears my voice and
opens the door,
I will come in and eat with him,
and he with me."
This is what Jesus was saying to the Christians in Laodicea. Their devotion to the Lord wasn't hot and it wasn't cold. It was just plain old lukewarm. Just saying the word lukewarm reminds me of the word: blah. Jesus told this church that He was ready to spit them out of His mouth if they didn't get some Spiritual fire burning deep within their souls. They needed a revival in most severe way. Sometimes I must confess I do feel a wee bit lukewarm at times and sadly I know that I am not alone.
There is an answer to our own lukewarm spiritual feelings. Jesus is knocking at the door of our heart. He won't barge in. We must open the door of our hearts and let Him in and allow Him to reign in our lives.
Here I am Lord Jesus the door is open. Come on in. That is what I am saying anyway. I hope it is what you are saying as well.
Let us devote our lives to the Lord Jesus and live for Him.
We need the Lord and we always need Him. We can't do life on our own. We need Him.
I would encourage you to keep seeking Him. Read the Bible. Keep calling out to Him in prayer and be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Lord,
We hear You knocking and we open the door to let You in.
Use us for Your Glory.
Lead us and guide us to where You want us.
Thank You for Your love and mercy.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
