Seek The Lord

There is something inner woven deeply within a person's being that makes us want to seek something bigger and greater than ourselves.  Whether we like to admit to it or not we are all seeking something at one time or another.  Many people are seeking a life long career.  Some people seek wealth and fame.  Some also seek, why, I don't know, making a name for themselves in politics.

People always seem to seek something outside of themselves.  I know of a young man who was walking around town playing that Pokemon game on his cellphone that everyone seems to be talking about.  He was in the downtown area and a police officer stopped him and asked him what he was doing in the town late at night.  He told the officer that he was playing the Pokemon Go game and the officer replied, "You are the twelfth  person that said that tonight."

Sometimes people seem to be seeking the wrong things.  They tend to seek things that have no real lasting value.  Fame and fortune won't last forever.  That fancy job won't last.  That nice car that you drive around in won't last for ever either.

We should be seeking something that has lasting power.  We should be seeking the One who can give us eternal life.  We should be seeking the One who loves us more than any earthly parent ever could.  We should be seeking the Lord.

I am reminded of Matthew 6:25-34 which can be found here at this link:

You may be wondering what this passage has to do with seeking the Lord, but it has a lot to do with it actually.  When we are worrying about our lives, what we will eat or drink, what we will wear, and other things that we need daily we end up seeking those things instead of seeking the Lord, who will provide all of our needs (Philippians 4:19).

Jesus says in verse 33, "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

The Lord knows what we need and when we need it.  He will provide.  Do we trust Him to provide for us?

Jesus tells us to look at the birds of the air.  They don't sow or reap or store away their food in barns, but the Heaven Father feeds them.  They still have to leave their comfy nests to go get the food, but the Lord provides it.  We are of more value than the birds in our Lord's eyes.  He is an awesome loving God and He takes care of His children.  Do we love Him enough to trust Him with our daily needs.  He has never failed us and He won't start now.  We must seek Him while He still can be found.

When we seek Him we will find Him.  He won't hide from us or make it difficult for us to find Him.
He wants us to seek Him and to find Him.  He is waiting for us to come to Him.

We can get to know Him by reading the Bible and praying to Him.  We can also just sit in His loving presence and worship Him.

Are you seeking the Lord Jesus or are you seeking something that won't last?

I pray that you will seek the Lord while He still may be found.

Lord,
We thank You that we can seek You and find You.
We thank You that You provide all of our needs.
We praise Your Holy name.
Lead us and guide us.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
