Be Still And Know

Sometimes life can be stressful and that can be putting it mildly.  We rush from home to work.  We rush to lunch and back to work.  We go home and mow the lawn.  We always seem to be on the go.
It is hard for us to sit back and just relax.  When we do have some down time our minds are still spinning with all of those thoughts of things we ought to be doing right now instead of resting.

We get so busy doing things for others and for ourselves.  We need to slow down and ask ourselves, how much time am I devoting in seeking the Lord?  We spend countless amounts of time in front of the television.  We spend lots of time on Facebook and other social media platforms.  How much time are we spending talking with God?

He loves us so very deeply and He wants us to come to Him and seek Him.  The best ways for us to do that is by reading His Word, the Bible and another way is through prayer.  When we pray it is not just about us doing all of the talking.  It is also a time when we need to listen for the Lord to speak to our very hearts and He will if we just wait in His presence.

God is our refuge and strength.  He is an ever present help in our times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1)
When troubles come our way and they will, we need to seek shelter in the arms of the Lord our God.
He is mighty and powerful.  He is our tower of strength.  Nothing can move our God.  Nothing that the enemy throws at us is a match for our Lord.  We must trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6) when troubles come.

Sometimes we find ourselves striving to get things done, but we fail to take time to rest in the loving presence of our Savior.  Jesus shed His blood for us to reconcile us back to God the Father and we fail to make time for Him in our busy days.  How much more productive would we be if we just would just get alone with God and spend time with Him in prayer or just thanking Him for His goodness and amazing grace.

I can't speak for you, but I know that I need more of God in my life.  I need to spend more time with Him and I need to spend more time in His Holy Word, the Bible.  I can't do life on my own strength or power.  I am too weak in my flesh and I am not that smart.  I am thankful that I can lean upon my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who will give me all of the strength and wisdom I need and all I have to do is ask Him for it and He will supply.  He will always supply all of our genuine needs (Philippians 4:19).  I also need more of His lead and direction in my life.  I also need to be more sensitive to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in my walk with the Lord.

Sometimes I allow fear and anxiety to determine whether I will do something or not.  I need to allow Him to work through me for His Glory and Praise, not mine.  When the Lord calls us to do something, no matter what it is, He will prepare us to do it and He will give us the courage and strength to do it as well.  We can trust Him to enable us to do those things He has called us to do, but we must make sure we don't allow ourselves to get in the way of His working.  We must also be sure that He gets the credit for it and not us.  He is God and we are just His unworthy servants just doing His will.

The Lord will be exalted among the nations and He will be exalted in the earth (Psalm 46:10).  We must be still and in awe of a Great and Mighty God as our Lord is.  There is only One True Living God and that is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  He is the Only One that we should praise and give our worship to.

He is an Awesome Loving God.  Shouldn't we who have put our faith and trust in Him spend more time with Him.  Let us put away our cellphones, tablets, and computers and open up our Bibles.  Let us get on our knees before God with our hands raised in Worship and cry out to our God and King.  He is the only that can truly help us in our times of desperate need.  The Lord is bigger and more powerful that any trial that comes our way.  Are we calling out to Him in prayer or are we remaining silent?  Are we going to remain silent as our Nation continues to plummet down a dangerous immoral pathway?  Are we going to remain silent as people day after day enter into eternity without a Savior?

People need Jesus today more than ever.  Jesus is the answer to peoples needs and the emptiness that is in their very souls.  Let us cry out to the Lord for the needs of the people all around us.

Let us Be Still before the Lord and know that He is God!
He will answer the call of His people.  He will answer our prayers.  Let us make more time for Him each day and cry out to Him for help in this day of need.

Lord,
We come to You with broken hearts.
We feel for those people who are hurting and need a special touch from You this very night.
Touch them right where they are Lord and heal their wounds.
Reach out to those who need a Savior.  They need Jesus.  Draw them to You O Lord.
Help those who are grieving the loss of a loved one and comfort them.
Help us to Be Still and Know that You are God.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
