Wait For The Lord

In our fast paced world most of us have a hard time waiting for anything.  I remember waiting to get my driver license renewed.  I took a number and sat down and waited.  Then I waited some more.  Then about an hour and a half later my number was called.  There really isn't anything wrong with waiting necessarily unless you are in a crisis of some sort and you need help right now.   When we are trusting in the Lord we know that He is always right there ready to help us in our time of need no matter what we are facing at that moment.  The Lord will show up right on time to help us.

The Lord teaches us to wait on Him.  That means we trust Him to do His will in His timing.  That can be hard for us as well, but we must remember that the Lord knows what is best for us and He is working out things for our own good according His purpose for our lives.  We must remember that He provides for all of our genuine needs.

Sometimes fear will try to strangle us and make us take our eyes off of the Lord.  We must stand firm in the truth of who the Lord is.  We can learn more about Him by reading His Holy Word, the Bible.

Psalm 27 says,

"1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?

2 When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.

3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.

4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.

6 Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.

7 Hear my voice when I call, LORD; be merciful to me and answer me.

8 My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek.

9 Do not hide your face from me, do not turn your servant away in anger; you have been my helper. Do not reject me or forsake me, God my Savior.

10 Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me.

11 Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors.

12 Do not turn me over to the desire of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, spouting malicious accusations.

13 I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.

This psalm is a confident prayer to God written by David.  David was proclaiming the Greatness of  our God.  Our God is indeed Great.  We too can say, "The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear?"

We must keep seeking the Lord's face and trust Him to meet our daily needs.  We must have confidence in the Lord.  We can wait on Him because He is faithful and true.

He will show up when others won't or can't.  He touch our hearts and bring us comfort more than any friend our family member ever could.  When we know the Lord we can be strong and know that He will never leave us and He will never forsake us because He loves us.

Come into His presence with thanksgiving and wait  for the Lord.  Praise Him and Worship Him with all of your heart.

Lord,
We praise Your name.
Thank you for Your love and mercy.
We know we have nothing to fear when we put our faith and trust in You.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
