When we allow pride and power to lead us we run into horrible life altering problems of the grandest scale. We end up pursuing things that lift us up or we think it will anyway. We pursue money, power, and fame to what end though? We can't take anything with us when we leave this world. We come into this world with nothing and we will leave this world with no material possessions to speak of.
Jesus tells us in Scripture to store our treasures in Heaven. We believers in Jesus Christ have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us to lead us and guide us into all truth as we walk this earthly sod. He is our treasure and with His lead we can accumulate treasure that will last for all eternity. We can send our treasure on ahead of us. We store up treasure when we do God's will. When we help the needy, the down and out, and when we tell others about Jesus Christ and His love for them.
We believers in Jesus Christ need to humble ourselves and see other people as God sees them. We must no longer look to please ourselves and our selfish desires. Let us put others ahead of ourselves and out Christ first in our lives. We must follow the Lord's lead and be guided by Him daily.
I Peter 5:6-11 says,
"6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.
7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen."
The Apostle Peter told the believers in his letter to them to humble themselves and trust that the Lord would lift them up and bless them according His will and His timing. We need to put the Lord first in our lives and submit to His authority over our lives. He is the One that is ultimately in control of all things. We aren't in control even when we think we are in control.
We must guard ourselves against the devil's schemes because he lurks around trying to find someone to devour. We Christians have an enemy let us never forget that. Our enemy is not people even though the devil will use people at times to get to us and try to trip us up. The devil is our true enemy and he is a strong adversary, but our Lord is much more Mighty and Powerful.
We can cast all of our concerns upon the Lord because He loves us and He cares for us so very deeply. His thoughts for you and I are great. He has a plan for us and he is working in us through His Holy Spirit to make us more like Christ each and everyday. That won't come into completeness until we reach God's Heavenly shore and we are with Jesus for all eternity.
When the enemy strikes out at us and he will we must resist Him and turn to the Lord Jesus for help in our time of need. Our Lord is trustworthy and faithful. All things are possible with the Lord.
Let us humble ourselves before our great God and Mighty King and trust Him in all things.
Lord, Heavenly Father,
We humble ourselves before You.
We are nothing without You Lord.
I am just a wretched sinful man saved by the wonderful grace of Jesus Christ.
I can't save myself. We can't save ourselves.
We need a Savior and we thank You Lord Jesus for being our Lord and Savior.
For there is only One name under Heaven in which a person can be saved by and that is the name of Jesus.
We praise Your name Lord.
Come quickly Lord.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
