People nowadays just don't want to hear the truth about who they are and what they are doing is wrong in God's sight. They don't want to hear that they are sinners and are in danger of facing an eternity in a literal Hell totally separated from a loving God. God does love us. He demonstrated that by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect sinless and die on the Cross for our sins. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins by shedding His blood. He took the punishment that we so rightly deserved. Jesus made a way for us to obtain forgiveness of our sins. We have to realize that we are sinners and can't save ourselves. We can't even keep ourselves saved. What we need to do is receive His forgiveness by going to the Lord and confessing our sins to Him and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Then we are to live for Him and He will help us to do that through the Holy Spirit that indwells everyone who has received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
There are many false teachers in our world today and they are even in our churches as well. They spread falsehood and stir up trouble. There are many people who just come to church to get their ears scratched. That is they what to hear something pleasing to them. When we go to church it should be to worship the Lord with our fellow believers in Christ. If we feel like we are not getting anything out of church then we probably should take a long look at our motives and our hearts. There is no such thing as a perfect church.
We believers in Jesus Christ must cling to the truth of who He is and we can know who He is by reading and studying the Bible. The Bible is the living Word of God. The Lord will speak to us through His Word and by the Holy Spirit's leading if we are willing to listen and pay attention to His promptings.
We must become very familiar with God's Word so that we can recognize false teachers that will try to draw us away from the truth of who God is. The devil is in the business of spreading falsehood and we must be on our guard. The devil will use false teachers to distract people from knowing the truth about Jesus. We must know the truth about who we are in relation to God and how we can be reconciled back to God through a personal relationship through Jesus Christ.
There is only one way to the Father and that is through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
The Apostle Peter has this to say about false teacher in 2 Peter 2 which says,
"1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2 Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgment;
5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless
8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)—
9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.
10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the fleshc and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings;
11 yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgment on them from the Lord.
12 But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish.
13 They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.
14 With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed—an accursed brood!
15 They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness.
16 But he was rebuked for his wrongdoing by a donkey—an animal without speech—who spoke with a human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
17 These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.
18 For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error.
19 They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity—for “people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.”
20 If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning.
21 It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them.
22 Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
Those who spread the lies about the Lord and try to lead people astray will face severe Judgment from the Lord God Almighty. They will be found out and we should be able to recognize them for it is by their fruit that we can see who they really are. The person proclaiming the truth of God's Word will acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord and He came to earth in the flesh and died on the Cross for the sins of all mankind. Jesus rose from the dead on the third day and is seated at the right hand of God in Heaven and one day He will return to Judge the world as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He didn't leave us who believe in Him as orphans, but He gives us the Holy Spirit to dwell with in us who believe on His name.
It is important for we believers in Christ Jesus to be awake and to know the truth of God's Word so we will not be deceived. The Holy Spirit will help us to have the wisdom to be able to discern whether what we hear is the truth of a lie.
Let us cling to the truth of who God is as He reveals to us in His Word, the Bible. Let us cling tot he truth of who the Lord Jesus is and serve Him. May we continue to love the Lord and love others as ourselves.
Lord,
We pray for those who have been deceived and lead astray.
We pray that they will come back to You Lord in repentance.
We pray that we believers in Christ Jesus will cling to the truth of the Bible.
Help us to have a discerning Spirit in this day and age.
Thank You for Your mercy and grace and love.
Lead us and guide us Lord.
Help us to reach out to those who are lost and wayward.
Come Soon O Lord Jesus.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
