Being A Good Listener

There are times in our lives when we just need to listen.  We often like to talk to someone who talks to us and give them our take on things.  There are times when we just need to be silent and just be a listening ear to someone.  This is especially true when the person is hurting and just needs to get something off of their chest sort of speak. 

The Lord is a great listener.  He is always available to hear what is on our hearts and what is bothering us.  He already knows what is going on in our lives, but He really loves it when His children reach out to Him in prayer.  It may be difficult to find someone who is willing to listen to those things that concern us,  but the Lord cares for us and love us so much that we should feel comfortable to talk to Him about anything that bothers us. 

We in turn should be good listeners to those that God puts in our paths.  We may not be able to understand what the other person is going through and we may not be able to offer advice, but we can offer to pray for them.  When we say we are going to pray for them then we should truly pray for them. 

There are many people in our world who are going through horribly difficult times.   There marriage may be failing.  They may have lost their job.  Their health may have taken a bad turn.  Someone they loved may have died.  There are many people who are just lonely and depressed. 

There are many people who just need to know that there are people who care enough to listen.  The Lord Jesus is willing to listen to us and we should be willing as His followers to listen to those in need and pray for them.  We must show them the love of Jesus Christ.

Lord,

Thank You for listening to the deepest cries of our hearts.

Help us to be good listeners to those in need all around us.

Help us to show grace and mercy to those around us.

Help us to show the love of Jesus Christ to others.
