We believers in Jesus Christ must cling to the truth of who the Lord is and we must cling to the truth of His Holy Word , the Bible, as well. The world will try hard to mold us and shape us into one of it's own, but we must resist and cling to the Lord no matter what the cost.
We need to remind ourselves about God's protection and His love for us. A good way to do this is to read Scripture and memorize Bible verses. Sometimes the Psalms can be a great place to start finding very good verses that point us closer to the Lord our God and increase our understanding of how great He is.
One great Psalm is a Psalm that we are all very familiar with and it may even be a favorite of yours because I know it is a favorite of mine. I am speaking of Psalm 23. This Psalm was written by David who would be the king of Israel that we read about in the Old Testament. David took his experience of being a shepherd of his father's sheep and likened it to our relationship with the Lord.
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
they comfort me
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
The Lord is our great shepherd who watches over our very lives. The Lord provides for all of our genuine needs. We really shouldn't be wanting for anything, but we should be trusting for the Lord to meet our daily needs.
The Lord leads us on our journey through life with all of it's ups and downs and bumps and scrapes along the way. HE is the one who leads us by the still waters and He restores our weary souls.
The Lord will lead us in paths of righteousness for His name's sake and not ours. Even though our journey in life may get rather bleak and scary and it may even lead to our death we know that the Lord will be with us each step of the way if we just place our faith and trust in Him.
The Lord protects us and He brings us a comfort and a peace in our hearts that we have a hard time comprehending with our mere human understanding. When we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ we have a place set for us at God's table. God is on our side when we come to Him through Jesus Christ, but the important thing is that we are on God's side.
The Lord will lead us and guide us and protect us throughout life's journey until that great day when He takes us home to Heaven to dwell with Him forever. The Lord is an Awesome God and He loves us so very much.
No matter what life throws at us our God can handle it. We need to trust Him to do it in His timing and in His way.
May we continue to trust Him and grow in our faith in Him.
Lord, Heavenly Father,
We praise Your Holy Name.
Lead us and guide us on the path You have made for us.
Help us not to be afraid and worried.
We love You Lord and we are thankful that You loved us first.
Give us strength and courage as we journey along life's difficult road with You leading the way.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
