Living for the Lord can be rather tough at times. We want to do what is right in His eyes, but sometimes even our best efforts seem to fall short.
Sometimes we look at our faults and remind ourselves of all the countless times we have tried something, but failed miserably.
We also may wonder if we have anything to offer the Lord Jesus. Maybe we don't feel like we are talented at anything.
We may look at others and wonder why can't I sing like that man or that woman. We may say to ourselves I wish I was as good at preaching as that Pastor over there.
I have traveled down that path of thinking at times. I sometimes wonder to myself, Lord, what do I have to offer You. Then I start thinking, perhaps a little negatively about myself.
I start thinking, Lord, I can't sing very well, I am not a very good speaker, I am shy, Isn't there something I can do for You.
Then I remembered reading in the Bible about a young boy who brought His lunch to a place where Jesus was teaching. There was a large crowd. I mean super large.
Allow me to set the scene for you.
Jesus and His disciples were in a boat and they sailed across the Sea of Galilee. When they made it to the other shore they discovered a large crowd of people had followed Him because of the miracles they had seen Him do in the past.
So, Jesus went up on a mountainside and sat down with His disciples.
They wanted to get some much needed rest and relaxation and some good teaching.
Jesus looked up and saw that a great crowd of people were coming towards Him.
Jesus tapped Philip on the shoulder and said, "Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?"
He only said this to test Philip for He already knew what He was going to do.
Philip replied, "Eight months' wages would not buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!"
Then one of the other disciples came forward. It was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
Andrew said, "Here is a boy with five barely loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?"
Jesus said to the disciples, "Have the people sit down."
There was plenty of grass there for everyone to have a comfy place to sit.
The men sat down. There were five thousand men. The women and children were not counted.
This was a big picnic.
Jesus took those five small barely loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated. They could have as much as they wanted. He did the same thing with the fish.
When everyone was full, He said to His disciples, "Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted."
The disciples went around and collected the left over food. They ended up having twelve baskets full of the pieces of the barely loaves that had been left over by those who had eaten.
This entire account can be found in John 6:1-13.
The crowd was so large. The need was so very great, but a young boy came to Jesus with the only thing he had to offer, his lunch.
It was so small. Just two small fish. Just five barley loaves. What could Jesus possibly do with those?
Jesus took that small seemingly insignificant lunch and multiplied it to feed five thousand men, not to mention several women and children as well.
We all have something to offer Jesus. We can offer ourselves. We can serve Him in many areas and live our lives for Him.
We can bring Jesus anything we have whether it is a talent, job, marriage, or anything else. We must give it over to Jesus and allow Him to use it for His Glory.
Our talents no matter how small they may seem to us, Jesus can still use them and He will magnify them and multiply them.
Whatever talent you have, no matter how good you are at it, I would encourage you to bring it to Jesus in prayer and offer it to Him.
Maybe you like to sing, but you aren't very good. Practice singing, keep learning, and make sure you are doing it to bring Glory to the Lord Jesus.
What have you to offer the Lord Jesus?
I want you to pray for the Lord to open your eyes to that talent or whatever it maybe that He have blessed you with to bring Glory to His Name.
We all have something to offer the Lord. It may not be big. It may not seem great to us.
The Lord can still use it no matter how small our "lunch" is He can still use it to impact others in a great and mighty way.
Perhaps I can offer this blog as my "lunch" to Jesus Christ, so that He can multiply it and make an impact on others around the entire world for His Glory, Honor, and Praise.
I know I may not be the best writer by far, but I pray that the Lord would use these blog posting to draw people into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Lord,
Thank You that You can still use us and whatever we bring to You.
May You receive all the Glory.
Draw us near to You O Lord.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
