Finding Peace

Many people in our world today are stressed out.  They work long hours at a job that they probably don't like.

They are trying to take care of their children and taking them to all kinds of activities that they are involved in.

People have to fight traffic.  Wait in long lines at stores.  Pay bills.

Life can wear a person down real fast.

Stress can make us sick.  When we are stressed we tend not to eat right.  We don't exercise like we should.

Our attitudes aren't very good when we are stressed.

If you asked people today what they wanted most, probably many I would venture to say would want peace.

They may not come right out and say it that way.  They may say, "I need a vacation", "I need a break", or "I need to be on a beach somewhere on an island far away."

Many people today try to find peace in those things.  Some may turn to drugs, alcohol, or even sexual sin to try to find and escape from life's stresses.

Those things have never brought anyone true lasting peace.  They may seem to work for a while, but that is part of the lie of the devil who wants people to be in the bondage of sin.

There is only one way to truly find everlasting peace and that is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

People often pray for world peace and we should, but true peace only comes to people who put their faith and trust in Jesus.

Romans 5:1-5 says,

"Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,

through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.

And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;

perseverance, character; and character, hope.

And hope does not disappoint us,  because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us."

Through our faith in Jesus Christ we have peace with God and we also have hope in Him.

He pours out His love into our very hearts by the Holy Spirit whom He has given each believer in Christ.

Romans 5:6-8 says,

"You see, at just the right time,

when we were still powerless,

Christ died for the ungodly.

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man,

though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

God demonstrates His great love for us by sending His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die for us sinners,

When we receive what Jesus did for us on the cross we find true peace.  Jesus shed His blood for our sins.

We can find forgiveness in Christ and in Christ alone.

He give us the everlasting peace that we have always longed for.

It is through Christ finished work on the cross that we also find reconciliation to the Father.

Romans 5:9-11 says,

"Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's
wrath through Him!

For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son,

how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

through whom we have now received reconciliation."

We believers in Christ have found true peace in Jesus.

We also have hope and promise of eternal life in Heaven where we will reside with Him for all eternity.

I often think of what an awesome day that will be when I see Jesus, the One who bore my sins.

It almost feels like I am a little home sick for that place where I have never been, but where I will be forever because of what Jesus did for me.

That is my hope.  He is my peace and hope.

Do you have this hope and peace that Jesus so freely offers you?

I hope you do my dear friend.

If you don't why not come to Jesus Christ and ask Him to be your Lord and Savior this very day.

He is always faithful.

He is always true.

He will give you the peace that you have been longing for.

Come to Jesus.

Lord,
Thank You for the peace that You give us.  A peace that goes beyond understanding.
We praise You for that.
Thank You for loving us so very much.
Lead us and guide our steps as we walk with You.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
