This is why it is important for us to have a proper relationship with the Lord. The Lord doesn't want us to be crippled by fear. The Lord wants us to trust in Him. Throughout Scripture we are told many times not to fear or do not be afraid.
Lets face it we can find a lot of things to be afraid of in this world if we wanted to. Our fears can distract us from serving the Lord and that is never good. The Lord wants us to have faith in Him and His abilities. All things are possible with God. The Lord promises to always be with us and He will protect us throughout life all the way until He calls us Home to be with Him. In order to have that promise we need to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We all get afraid at times. There are things that can cause us great fear. Many people are afraid of dying or losing a loved one. Some people are afraid of losing their job, home, or car. Some people aren't sure what they are afraid of, but they are just fearful of pretty much everything.
We believers in Jesus Christ have a choice. We can either live in fear or we can have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and live for Him. The Lord calls us out of our comfort zones and He calls us to live for Him. There will be times when the Lord wants us to do something for Him that could stir up fear within us, but we must trust Him.
I remember when the Lord first called me to preach. I was scared to death. I had to write down everything. I pretty much read the entire sermon. I trusted the Lord and stepped way out of my comfort zone and nothing super bad happened. The Lord has helped me to grow closer to Him since those days and He is still calling me out of my comfort zone. Sometimes He has to drag me at times, but He always knows best and we can know that He is trustworthy.
Sometimes our faith seems so much smaller than a mustard seed when it comes to trusting in the Lord and His plans for us. We just need to trust Him more and know that He does know what He is doing.
Isaiah 41:10-13
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
11 “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish.
12 Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all.
13 For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
When the Lord tells us anything we really need to listen and trust Him. The Lord tells us constantly not to fear and we really need to listen to Him. It is hard at times to let go of our fears. I know that all to well, but God has demonstrated time and time again to me that He is indeed trustworthy and faithful even when I am not.
Our God is and Awesome God who is rich in mercy and showers us with His grace which truly is amazing indeed.
Let us no longer allow fear to take a foothold in our lives. May we trust the Lord through our fears and know that He is always with us no matter what happens in our lives.
We can trust the Lord to be there for us.
Lord,
Thank You for loving us even though sometimes we get afraid.
Help us not to fear, but help us to trust You in a greater way.
Help our focus to be upon You and not those things that cause us to fear.
Lead us and guide us.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
