Remembering What Jesus Did For Us

I was thinking of how really amazing God is.  God created all things seen and unseen.  He is Holy and just in His Judgments.  He knows that every single person is a law breaker and yet He chooses to love us anyway.  We have all sinned and fallen short of His high standards.  We have all failed and there not one of us that is good enough to get into Heaven on our own merit.

The Lord is great at imparting mercy and grace upon us so richly that we have a hard time comprehending the greatness of His love toward us.  We are weak and fragile beings.  We stray and act so foolishly.  We sometimes think we are doing great in our walk with the Lord, but then we stumble and fall.  It is then we realize that we need the Lord in every area of our lives every moment of every day.  Sometimes we fail to realize just how little power we have.  We are at the Lord's mercy in ever area of our lives.  There is nothing we can do on our own and in our own strength with out the Lord's help.

We definitely can't save ourselves,  but thankfully God has made away for us to be forgiven of our sins and for us to have a place in Heaven when we leave this world in death.  God showed us how much He loves us by sending Jesus Christ to die on the Cross.  Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins.  Jesus took the punishment that you and I so rightly deserve.

We are saved by His grace.  We must receive His forgiveness by putting our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  We must remember that it was Christ who paid it all for us when He shed His blood on the Cross for our sins.  The Lord Jesus rose from the dead on the third day and is now at the right hand of the Father in Heaven.  One day Jesus will return to the earth at His Second Coming.

The Lord didn't leave us as orphans, but He gives the Holy Spirit to indwell all of those who have trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

I was thinking about Communion today since we observed it at Church today.  The bread reminds us of Jesus broken body that was nailed to an old rugged Cross on a hill so very far away from where we are.  The cup represents the blood of Christ that was shed for sinners such as we are.  We partake in the Communion service to remember all that Jesus has done for us until He comes back.

I Corinthians 11:23-26

23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,
24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

It is always good to reflect and to think about who we are.  We are like sheep that are in dire need of a shepherd.  Sheep are foolish creatures that get into trouble on their own and they have a hard time fending for themselves.  We tend to get into trouble as well.  Sometimes we think we are doing pretty well on our own and in our own strength, but the truth is that we need the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep.

We humans are sinful creatures and we are in need of a Savior.  The Lord provided us with the only Savior that the world has and that is Jesus Christ.  There is no other way to obtain forgiveness of our sins.  There is no other way into Heaven.  Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and the only Way to the Father.  Jesus is the perfect lamb without blemish.  Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He the only One that laid down His life for our sins and for the sins of the whole world.

Are you trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?

I pray that you will before it is too late.  It is appointed for all of us to die but once and then the judgment.  All of us who have put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ and what He accomplished on our behalf on the Cross will be saved and we will go to Heaven when we die.

Jesus is our hope.  People need a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  It is by His grace that we are saved, but we must enter into a relationship with Him by placing our faith in His finished work on the Cross.

Jesus Christ can change your life.  I know this because He changed mine.  I always thought I was a good person, but the truth is I am not.  I am not good enough to enter into Heaven based on my goodness.  I am sinner in need of a Savior.  I received forgiveness of my sins by repenting of my sins and placing my faith in Jesus Christ.  That was many years ago when I first received Christ as my Lord and Savior.  I realize that I still need Him daily and I am thankful that He is rich in mercy and grace still as I walk on this earthly sod and all the way to the day when I see Him in Heaven.

May we remember what Jesus has done for us and let us keep our focus on Him and the truth of His Holy Word.

Lord, Heavenly Father,

We praise Your name.

Thank You for loving us so much that You send Jesus to save us from our sins.

Shine Your light through us into this dark world so others might come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Lead us and guide us.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen.
