We get so very tired. The Lord urges us to find our rest in Him and in Him alone. The Lord is our refuge. He is our Strong Tower that we run to and are saved. The Lord beckons us to come to Him and find rest for our weary and heavy burdened souls.
The Lord wants us to come to Him and be still in His presence. We get so very busy doing this and that. Sometimes we forget to just enjoy being in God's presence. We spend a lot of time complaining and moaning and groaning about how things are nowadays.
The Lord is still in control of things. He knows the things that trouble us. He us still at work in the world today and He is still working in us, thankfully. The Lord is not finished with us. If we are trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we can know that the Holy Spirit is dwelling within us and He is working in our lives to make us more like Christ. That is a life long process that won't be completed until we see Jesus face to face in Heaven.
Psalm 62
1 Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.
2 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
3 How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
4 Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
5 Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him.
6 Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor depend on God ; he is my mighty rock, my refuge.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
9 Surely the lowborn are but a breath, the highborn are but a lie. If weighed on a balance, they are nothing; together they are only a breath.
10 Do not trust in extortion or put vain hope in stolen goods; though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.
11 One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard: “Power belongs to you, God,
12 and with you, Lord, is unfailing love”; and, “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”
We must come to the Lord to find true lasting rest for our very souls. The Lord Jesus will give us rest and a peace within our hearts that surpasses all understanding. The Lord is our rock and our salvation.
We can trust Him to protect us from anything the devil throws at us. We must resist that devil and we must submit to the Lord our God. The Lord is all powerful and all knowing.
When things seem out of control we must turn our attention to the Lord and trust Him. The Lord is trustworthy. He is faithful. He will never fail us no matter what happens.
We can come to Him and find the rest that our hearts so badly long for.
Let us be still and know that He is God.
Lord,
We come to You seeking rest for our souls.
Help us to be still in Your presence and know that You are God.
Lead us and guide us by Your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.
