Our Call To Persevere

Life is challenging to say the lest.  That just may be a great understatement to make, but we all know that life is truly hard for many people.  Life is hard for non believers and it is also hard for believers in Christ Jesus as well.  Those who don't know the Lord are struggling through life and they have no hope to hang onto.  They are just living life.  Actually they may be just existing with no real purpose.

We whom know the Lord Jesus as our Lord and Savior have hope in Him because of who He is and all that He has done for our sake because of His great love for us.  Our hope is real and it is solid.  Our hope in Jesus is eternal.  We who know the Lord have a purpose to our lives.  We have a reason to have hope in Jesus Christ.   Jesus died on the Cross for our sins.  He shed His blood for you and I.  He forgives us our sins based on His finished work on the Cross.  He is preparing a place for us in Heaven and one day He will take us to be with Him forever.   What a great and awesome Day that will be when we will behold our Savior and our Redeemer with our very eyes!   As the days role on and troubles seem to be increasing ever so greatly I am longing even more for that Day when I see my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

We have a great hope that the world just doesn't seem to understand.  I pray that their eyes and hearts will open up to the truth of who Jesus is before it is too late for them.  I pray that we believers will take the Great Commission seriously and spread the Gospel message of Christ throughout this world while being empowered by the Holy Spirit.

During times of difficulty and the apparent lack of fire in the Church it is very easy to become discouraged.   We must not give up.  We must keep going in our faith and run the race casting our eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ the author and finisher of our faith.  We believers in Christ Jesus must strive to persevere no matter what trials come our way and be assured they will indeed come.  The closer we get to the Lord's coming the worse things will get.

We will run into scoffers who will try to tell us half truths or outright lies about the Lord and His coming.  We must cling to the Holy Bible for it is the inspired Word of God.   God's Word is inerrant and infallible.  The Bible reveals to us who the true living God is,  it reveals who we are in relation to God,  and how we can be reconciled back to God through Jesus Christ.  We must study the Word and stand upon it without moving to the right or the left.  We must declare and proclaim the truth of  God's Word to this dark sin filled world in which we live.

I am reminded of what the book of Jude says in verses 17-23,

"17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.

18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.”

19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,

21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

22 Be merciful to those who doubt;

23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.

As the darkness seems to close in all around us and we can sense terror and fear trying to build within us we must take courage and trust in the Lord.   We must continue calling out to the Lord in prayer and pray in the Holy Spirit.  We must continue to submit to the Holy Spirit's lead in our lives as we wait for the great Day of return of Jesus Christ which could be very soon.

Let us continue to persevere in our race of faith with our hearts set upon the Lord Jesus.  Let us keep ourselves in the love of God by loving Him and loving others.   May we continue to live for Him and tell others the wonderful hope that we have for He can be their hope as well.   People all around us need to hear that there is hope for them too in Jesus Christ.  There is new life in Christ Jesus for them.   We must take the Gospel message to our communities and to every corner of our world.

What can you do today to show the love of Jesus Christ to someone?

A good start would be to offer to pray for them and just love them as Christ so greatly loves us.

Heavenly Father,
We come to You with humble hearts.
We praise Your name O God.
Thank You for Your love and the salvation that is available to us through Jesus Christ.
Help us to stand firm in our faith in You.
Pour out Your Spirit upon us.
Strengthen us and encourage us.
Help us to persevere in our journey here on the earth as we focus on You O Lord.
Bless us now.
In the name that is above all names.
In Jesus mighty name we pray,
Amen.
