What Do You Want Jesus To Do For You?

Matthew 20:29-34

"29 As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him.

30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

31 The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

33 “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”

34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him. "

Jesus and His disciples were leaving Jericho one day with a large crowd following them.  We find Jesus being followed by large crowds several times in Scripture.  Some of the people were true followers and devoted.  Some were there because their friends were there.  Some followed because they felt like it was the right thing to do.

We find that today as well.  Some people come to Church because their father's and mother's went to Church.  Some come to Church because they feel it is the right thing to do.  Some do it out of guilt or even habit.  Some may even feel like they are meeting their religious obligation.  There are also those who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and come to Church to worship the Lord together in Spirit and Truth.  The Church is not a building.  The Church is made up of all of those whom have put their faith in Jesus Christ and in Him alone for He is the Head of the Church Body.  We believers are His hands and feet on the earth.  We are to be doing his will and proclaiming the truth and hope that we have in Jesus Christ to those around us.

Sometimes we fail at doing His will.  We get in the way at times as we try to accomplish things in our own strength and our own power.  The Lord will work through us if we allow Him to use us.  The Holy Spirit who dwells in every believer in Christ will help us and empower us to do the Lord's will and bring glory and praise to Jesus Christ.

When Jesus was leaving Jericho with His disciples and the crowd following behind there were two blind men sitting near the roadside.  They heard that Jesus was passing by and they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

The crowd told them to quiet down.  The crowd wanted them to keep still and not bother Jesus.  They didn't listen to the crowd.  They didn't listen to the naysayers.  They wanted Jesus and they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

Can't we all us some mercy?  I know I need a lot of mercy from the Lord and I am thankful that His mercies are new every morning.  Our Lord is full of mercy and grace.  Thankfully He has an everlasting supply of both.  The only thing we need to do is just come to Him in faith and trust Him to supply our need of grace and mercy.  We can come to the Heavenly Father by trusting what Jesus did for each of us on the Cross.  Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, all of them.  God raised Jesus from the dead on the third day.  Jesus is in Heaven at the right hand of the Father and one day He will return as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  The Lord didn't leave us alone to fend for ourselves.  He sends the Holy Spirit to dwell within all of us who put our faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

No one deserves the Lord's mercy or His grace.  We are all deserving of eternal separation from God in a literal Hell.  God doesn't want anyone to perish.  That means He doesn't want to see anyone to go to Hell that is why He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, into this world so that whoever believes in Him will be saved and have eternal life.  It doesn't matter how many bad things you have done.  It doesn't matter how far you have wondered.  The Lord is waiting to receive you with opened arms because He loves you.  Yes, it is true Jesus loves you!  He is willing to forgive you all of your sins.  Just go to Him and confess them to Him and receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  The Lord Jesus paid your sin debt with His precious shed blood on the Cross.  He did that for you.  There is no greater love than that my friend.  What is preventing you form receiving the Lord's forgiveness.
Is it pride?  Is it guilt?  I urge you to humble yourself before the God of the universe and come to know the Lord Jesus before it is to late for you.  We don't know what tomorrow will bring.  It maybe to late for you.  We are all just a vapor in the wind.  One moment we are here and then poof the next moment we are gone.  There is an appointed time for each of us to die but once then we will face the judgement.  We will all stand before the Lord to give an account for the lives we have lived.

You maybe saying to yourself that you don't believe there is a God.  Well, I am sorry to hear that.  God is indeed real and you will still have to give an account to Him of the life you lived.  If you are not trusting in Jesus as your Lord and Savior you will stand before God alone and it is a fearful thing to face alone.  Those who are trusting in Jesus are washed in His blood and our sins are a white as snow.  We will enter Heaven based on our trusting in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for our sins.  We have been bought at a high price.  We have been bought with the blood of Jesus Christ.

Are you trusting in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?  Have you been washed in the blood of the Lamb?   Don't face eternity alone when you don't have to.  Come to Jesus and trust Him.

After the blind men had shouted and gotten the Lord Jesus attention Jesus asked them an important question.  He said, "What do you want me to do for you?"

If the Lord were to ask you that question to you right now what would your answer be?

Would you ask for healing for yourself or a loved one?

Would you ask for some material possessions?

We must keep in mind that the Lord is not a genie in a bottle.  The Lord is God and He is Sovereign.
We can come to Him with any request and He will answer according to His will.

The two blind men asked for their sight and Jesus touched their eyes and they could see.

I tell you yes, they did get their vision back and they could see with their eyes.  More importantly their Spiritual eyes were opened and they saw Jesus to be who He said He was the Son of the Living God.  Jesus is the Savior of the world.  It is Jesus people need.   Jesus is the only One that can save you for your sins.  Jesus is the only One to die for your sins.  There is no other religious leader that has done that.  There is only One way to God the Father and that is through believing on Jesus Christ, the Son.

May the Lord open our eyes to see who Jesus is.

Open the eyes of our hearts Lord.
We want to see You Lord Jesus.
We praise You and lift You up.
We ask that You touch those who need healing.
Open the eyes of those who don't know You.
Thank You Jesus for dying for our sins.
Thank You Jesus for saving a wretch like me.
Thank You Jesus for You mercy and grace.
Bless us O Lord this night and the days ahead.
Lead us and guide by Your Spirit.
Draw people to You O Lord for salvation.
Come Soon O Lord.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
