A Prayer For Direction

There are times when we are stuck in our spiritual walk with the Lord and we just feel stumped.  We want to follow Jesus and be led by His Spirit, but we feel adrift on the sea of life.  Have you ever felt that way?  I must admit I have felt that way several times.   We must remember during those times who the Lord is. 

The Lord is Sovereign.  He is all knowing and He is an ever present help in our time of need.  There are times when we must wait on the Lord.  We don't like to wait though, do we?  Waiting is hard.  When we wait we think we are wasting time because we want things to get done and get done right now.  Guess what?  God wants us to wait for Him to get things ready.  He wants us to be patient and follow Him and His direction.  The Lord is preparing people's hearts and He is putting things in motion.  He is making a way in your life and in mine so that His glory will be shown in us and through us.  

We need to humble ourselves and seek His direction for our lives by calling out to Him in prayer.  We want to do His will and we want Him to get all the Glory, Praise, and Honor.  There are tough decisions that we must make in life and we will need the Lord's help in making the choice that He would have us to make.

When it comes to who to vote for in a National election it is very important for us to pray to the Lord for His direction.  He must remember, that whoever is elected, God is still God and He never changes.  We who are believers in Christ Jesus must also remember that this is a fallen sinful world and this world is not our home.  We are in this world, but we must be careful not to be of it.  There will come a time when we will be forced to really truly chose whose side we are really on.  Are we on God's side? or Are we on the world system's side?

I chose to follow Jesus Christ.  I chose to be on God's side and I pray that He will grant me the courage and boldness to take a stand for Him no matter what it may cost.  The price that we may have to pay may be our very lives.  That is a very sobering thought, but a very real possibility as we live in a world that is becoming ever increasingly dark and hostile toward the Living God and His followers.

My prayers are with my bothers and sisters in Christ who are facing severe persecution and even death for their belief in Jesus.  I currently live in a free country, but that could change in a heart beat so we must pray and stand firm in the Lord Jesus.   We must trust Him and His direction.  We must not fear.  We need to take courage and follow Jesus.

Let us continue to seek the Lord and pray for His direction in our lives.

Lord Heavenly Father,
We come to You with humbled hearts.
We seek You direction for out lives.
We ask for help in deciding in who to vote for in the election that is coming up.
We pray that Your Will be done in the election.
We pray that we won't lose heart, but we will continue to trust in You.
You O Lord are more important that who the winner will be.
Thank You that You are dependable and trustworthy.
Your compassions they fail not.
Great is Your faithfulness O God.
Lead us by Your Holy Spirit.
Come quickly Lord Jesus. 
Help us to stand firmly planted upon Your Word.
Bless us with Your peace and strength.
