Pressing On

Sometimes the winter months seem to drag on and on.  The snow piles up and it keeps getting colder as time goes on.  It can be rather discouraging with all the roof clearing and shoveling.  Granted, it can be good exercise to shovel if you are healthy enough to do it.

Winters in Northern Maine can be rough and tough.  Many customers that I encounter at the grocery store where I work are discouraged with the long winter so I try to cheer them up by saying things like, "Well, at least we don't have any alligators, poisonous snakes, or giant spiders."  Sometimes you just need to look at the bight side of things.

Sometimes we can look at the spiritually dark world around us and feel discouraged.  We live in an increasingly negative world.  There is a lot of evil and wickedness happening all around us, but we believers in Jesus Christ must remember that we have a wonderful living hope in the Lord.

This world is not all there is.  This world is not our home.  The home for the believer in Jesus Christ is in Heaven where we will dwell with Him forever.  It won't be boring.  It will be beyond our wildest imaginations.  It will be amazingly lovely and beyond words.  It will be good because we will finally be with Jesus.

We must endure for a short time the small afflictions that come against us, but in the end it will all be worth it because of the wonderful promises that we have in Christ our Lord.  For the time being we will face troubles and trials, but one day we will find rest at our Savior's feet.

What a great day that will be when my Jesus I shall see!

Lord,

Thank You for the Living hope that we have in You.
Come Soon, Lord Jesus.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
