I got up rather early this morning so I could do that dreaded chore of raking snow off of the roof. There was probably a little over a foot and a half of snow up there. I worked for a long time and I only got the front part done. It is a very good workout I must say. There was also a lot of shoveling on the ground level as well. I even had my snowshoes on and made a nice path for myself so I could reach the front of the trailer.
I was about halfway done the front section of the roof when I heard someone say, "Hey, excuse me!" I turned and looked towards the direction of where the voice came from. There was a car that had pulled into the driveway and man was standing beside it. He wanted directions to get to a Health Clinic in town. So, I gave him detailed directions to get to where he was going. I never feel comfortable telling people how to get to a place out of fear I will get them lost.
Sometimes I feel like I give too many details and just confuse people. Other times people just give me that weird look as if they are saying, "This guy has no idea what he is talking about." Sometimes I just feel like going into one of those old "Bert and I" routines and tell them, "You can't get there from here!" (Insert a heavy down east Maine accent.)
I really hope I was clear with my directions and I hope that man found the clinic. I am glad God's directions are clear in regards of how we can be reconciled back to Him. There is only one way to God and that is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Jesus (John 14:6).
The Bible is clear we have all sinned and we have all fallen short of the high standards of a Holy God. God demonstrated His love to each one of us by sending Jesus on a rescue mission to save us from our sins. Jesus went obediently to the Cross shedding His blood for you and me. Jesus took the punishment that you and I deserve to reconcile us back to the Father.
Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. There is only one name under Heaven in which we must be saved by and that is the name of Jesus Christ. There is a narrow path and few will find it. The gate to destruction and death is very wide and most people are on that road.
Jesus is the narrow path. Jesus is the only answer for our sin debt. Jesus paid our sin debt on the Cross. We must repent of our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior in order to be saved. We can't save ourselves. We are not good enough. I am thankful for God's Amazing Grace.
I am thankful for the Holy Spirit that dwells within everyone that has come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. When we put our faith and trust in Christ we know that we are going in the right direction. The Holy Spirit and God's Word, the Bible will keep us on track.
May we be clear in telling people how to have a relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. We live in a very troubling world where people feel hopeless. There is an answer for their despair and His name is Jesus. May the Lord lead someone to us that we can give them directions to Him.
Lord,
We love You.
Thank You for the opportunities You give to us to share Your love with others.
Help us to be clear with our directions to others so they can find You.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
