Never Alone In Our Storms

We all face various storms throughout our lives.  There is a snow storm hitting the area right now where I live.  We have been through so many that this one might not seem like a big deal for many of us Northern Mainers that have dealt with snow many times before.  Winters however, can drag us down if we aren't careful.  We may feel depressed or anxious when we hear of more snow approaching.

Storms can make us feel weary and they can tire us out rather fast.  Sometimes the storms come one right after another.  Storms of life are the same way.  We lose a job, we lose our house, or we lose a parent of a loved one to disease.  Life's storms can weigh us down and make us feel hopeless.

There are times we try to fool ourselves by telling others that we have been through storms before so one more won't bother us because we are tough.  The thing is we aren't that tough at all.  We are weak creatures and we can crumble easy with each passing storm.

I recall there was a storm on the Sea of Galilee one night.  Jesus had just fed over 5000 people with some bread and a few fish.  He sent the disciples away in a boat to go to the other side of the lake.  Jesus stayed behind and sent the crowds away.  Afterwards Jesus went up the mountain to pray.  Jesus knew there was a storm brewing on the Sea of Galilee and yet we find Him sending His disciples into it.  He prayed all night for His disciples as they were in the middle of a storm.

When we face a storm in our lives we can know that Jesus is praying for us.  The Bible tells us that Jesus is interceding to the Father on our behalf during our worst storms.  That should bring us great comfort and a wonderful hope.  Jesus loves us so much that He is praying for us through our storm.

The Lord Jesus is also with us during our storms through His Spirit who dwells within each of us that have trusted Him as our Lord and Savior.   We are never alone in our storms.

Lord,
Thank You for praying for us and being with us during our storms of life.
Things are hard down here, but You know that and You promise to see us through.
Lead us and guide us near to You O Lord.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
