The world can seem like a very dark, cold, and lonely place at times for many people. There are people all around us that suffer from loneliness. It seems hard nowadays to find close friends that actually care enough to listen. We all get busy and we all have things that need our attention.
This is the time of the year when the loneliness seems to get a little worse for people because there is less sun light at least where I live. It is colder and snowy. It is harder to get around for older folks. This time of the year can also bring up memories of loved ones that are no longer with us and that can take a toll on us.
There is also the fact that some of our loved ones may live far away from us and can't be home for Christmas. There are people in nursing homes and people who are shut in their homes that feel so very lonely.
Sometimes we all feel lonely. We may even feel abandoned at times, but you know what there is someone who promises never to leave our side no matter what. The Lord Jesus Christ promises us, that if we have put our faith and trust in Him, He will never leave us nor forsake us.
The Lord Jesus tells us that He will always be with us even until the very end of the age. We can trust Him fully because He is God and He is faithful and true to His Word. Everyone who has made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior has the Holy Spirit indwelling them. God resides within each believer in the person of the Holy Spirit.
We may feel lonely, but a believer in Christ is never truly alone. The devil who is our enemy may try to make us feel like we have been abandoned and that we are on our own, but we must resist believing his lies. It you are trusting in Jesus for salvation then He will never abandon you. The Lord Jesus has set you free by His shed blood on the Cross. Jesus died on the Cross for your sins and mine.
The Lord Jesus rose from the dead on the third day to show us that He is indeed God. One Day the Lord Jesus will return and we will be with Him forever.
When we start feeling lonely and we will at some point let us call out to the Lord and talk to Him.
We should read the Bible and even reach out to someone that needs a friend and tell them about Jesus. Jesus is a friend that stick closer than any brother.
What a friend we have in Jesus!
Lord,
Thank You that You are always with us no matter where we go in life.
Thank You Jesus for loving us so very much.
We praise Your Holy Name O Lord.
