Sometimes temptations sneak up on us.
We may feel like we are walking close to the Lord and then all
of a sudden a tempting thought seems to come out of nowhere.
I Corinthians 10:12 says, "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall."
We all get tempted throughout our lives. Being tempted is not a sin, but giving into the temptation is. Remember Jesus was tempted in the wilderness by Satan, but Jesus never gave into the temptation. Jesus never sinned.
In Matthew 4:1-11, we can read of that encounter that Jesus had with temptation. We can also see how we too can resist the temptations that came at us.
Jesus quoted Scripture to fend off Satan's attacks and we can too.
We can memorize a verse or several or even write them on an index card and keep it in our pocket. When we feel tempted we can bring that verse to mind or look at that card and repeat it in our minds to resist the temptation.
One of my favorites is found in I Corinthians 10:13 which says,
"No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."
When temptations come and they will we can call out to the Lord for help and He will help us in our time of need.
I will encourage you to read God's Word, the Bible, everyday and trust Him to lead you by His Holy Spirit.
God Bless you all.
