Sometimes life's circumstances can weigh heavily upon our shoulders.
We may feel stressed, overwhelmed, and lacking confidence.
We may feel discouraged and wonder if things will get better.
This makes me think of Joshua in the Old Testament.
In Joshua 1:1-9 we find God reminding Joshua that Moses was dead and now Joshua was to lead the Israelites into the promised land.
Joshua had been Moses's assistant for 40 years.
Joshua knew how these people treated Moses. He knew how disobedient they were to the Lord's commands.
Now the time had come and Joshua was in charge.
What thoughts must have swept through his mind.
The Lord knew that Joshua needed encouragement. We too need encouragement.
The Lord said, "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9)
These a great words of encouragement for you and I as well.
When we put our faith and trust in Christ He promises to always be with us no matter where we go.
He will be with us during the good times.
He will also be with us during those times when we walk through the dark and lonely valley.
We may not always feel like He is with us, but we have His promise from His Word that He is always with us.
We can count on the Lord.
Let us be strong and courageous knowing that that Lord will be with us wherever we go.
