Coming To Jesus

Many people gathered together in churches on this Sunday to worship the Lord.  Today was Communion Sunday at the church where I worship.  We remembered all that Jesus has done for us by shedding His blood on the Cross for our sins.  We also remembered how His body was broken upon the Cross for our brokenness caused by our sin.  Jesus went to the Cross obediently and took the punishment that we so rightly deserve.

It was wonderful to gather together with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to worship the true and living God.  We sang songs of praise and we heard another wonderful message from the Pastor.  We prayed and praised the Lord for His goodness and His mercy on us.

There is so much darkness in our world these days and there is so much evil in people's hearts.  My heart is saddened at the news of another shooting took place in the U.S.A. today.  This time the shooting took place at a church in Texas.  My prayers and condolences go out to the congregation there.  We are living in difficult times.  Sometimes things just don't make sense to us.

We try to wrap our heads around tragic moments, but we usually end up with more questions like, "Why?"  There are no easy answers to the, "Why?", question.  There is evil in people's hearts caused by sin.  We have a sin problem.  There is sin in ever person's hearts.  We are all born with a sin nature and we are born bent away from the God that loves us.  We have all sinned as well and we have all fallen short of the glory of God.  We are all deserving of being eternally separated from God and placed into a literal hell.

Thankfully, God made a way for you and me and for the whole world.  God demonstrated His great love to all people by sending His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect and sinless life.  Jesus died on the Cross for our sins, yours, mine, and the whole worlds.  God raised Jesus from the dead on the third day to show us that He is indeed God.  Who ever calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.

We must repent of our sins and trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  There is only one name under Heaven in which we must be saved by and that is the name of Jesus Christ.  People need the Lord Jesus Christ in their lives.  We don't know what tomorrow will bring.  Something may happen in our community.  I sincerely hope it won't, but we just don't know.  We would like to think that a tragedy wouldn't occur in our town of our state and I hope it never does, but it could and the important thing for us to do is make sure that we are in right standing with the Lord.

One day we will die.  That is something we all have in common.  Our bodies will eventually die, but the real you, your soul will exists in either one of two places.  We will either be separated from God forever in a literal hell or we will be in Heaven.  We can know where we will be when we die.  Jesus said that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one can come to the Father except through Him.  Jesus is the only one that has died for the sins of the whole world.  There is only one way for us to be forgiven of our sins and that is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Confess that you are a sinner to the Lord in prayer and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior to be saved today and have an assurance of where you will spend eternity.  Don't delay receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior this very day.

People need to hear the Gospel message of Jesus Christ in our world today.  There is hope in Jesus Christ.  We are saved by His grace when we come to Him in faith and trust in His finished work on the Cross.  Come to Jesus.  He is waiting for you with His arms wide open.  Find rest in Him and find a peace that surpasses all understanding.

Lord, Heavenly Father,
We praise Your Name.
We uplift that Church in Texas where a shooting occurred.
We pray that You would bring them comfort during this time.
We pray that the Gospel message would be proclaimed in that community and throughout the world.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
