Trust And Surrender

We live in a world that seems to be spiraling out of control with violence, anger, and lack of love.  Sometimes we find it hard to trust politicians and government leaders.  Sometimes we may even find it difficult to trust God especially when trials come against us, but the truth is that we can indeed trust God.  The Lord is trustworthy and He is capable in handling even the biggest problem that we face.

We must surrender ourselves and our will to His perfect will and direction.  There are many things in this world that could cause us to lose hope and not want to trust.  Sometimes we find it hard to trust people because they have either hurt us in some way in the past or wronged us breaking our trust in them.  The Lord is not like that at all.  We might not know exactly what the Lord is doing in our lives, but He can see the bigger picture of things and we can't.  The Lord is like an artist painting a portrait.  He knows what the finished result will look like and what it will take to make that happen.

He asks us to trust Him and surrender ourselves to Him completely.  I find these two things to be very difficult for me at times.  I want to trust the Lord and surrender to His will, but sometimes I end up getting in the way I am afraid.  I need to continually reset my mind upon the Lord and trust in His guidance through the Holy Spirit.

We must continue to trust the Lord Jesus with our lives and remember that He is still working out things in our lives for our good.  Our hope is not in things or people of this world our hope is in the Lord.

I was trying to find a Scripture text that explains what I am trying to say and I feel that 1 Peter 1:13-25 says it best,

"13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming.

14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.

15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;

16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”a

17 Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.

18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors,

19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.

20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake.

21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

22 Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart.b

23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

24 For, “All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall,

25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.”cAnd this is the word that was preached to you. "

We must remember how Awesome and Holy our God is and what Jesus has done for us.  He wants us to surrender ourselves to Him and trust Him so that He can use us to further His Kingdom.  This will be challenging to us, but the Lord will help us through the Holy Spirit.

Lord,  Heavenly Father,
We praise Your Holy Name.
Forgive us for not trusting You more.
Help us to trust Your ways and help us to surrender completely to Your will.
Lead us and guide us.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
