Choosing To Love God Because He Loved Us First

Sometimes we fail to realize how much the Lord truly loves us.  We wonder about His love for us when we suffer pain and severe trials.  We wonder about His love when we see tragedies occur in our world.  We wonder how could a loving God allow these things to happen to us or to others in our world today?

We know that God is a loving God.  The Bible tells us God is love.  We also know that God is sovereign.  We also know that God gives us freewill.  We have the ability to chose to love God or reject God.  The Lord wants us to love Him, but He will not force us to love Him back.

He allows rain to fall on the righteous and the unrighteous.  The Lord does love the people of this world.  God demonstrated His great love for each of us by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the Cross for our sins.  He doesn't want anyone to perish, but He wants all to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  He also knows that many people will reject the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

The Lord will try to woo us to Himself through the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit will convict us of our sin and try to draw us to faith in Jesus Christ.  We must come boldly to the throne of grace and repent of our sin and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

A parent can raise a child in the way that is right and that honors God, but it is up to the child when he or she is older to continue on that path or divert from it and do things their way.  We can either obey God and His ways or do what seems right in our own eyes and face the consequences of our decisions.

Sometimes we don't know why God allows certain things to happen in our world or even in our own lives, but we can know that God loves us and He wants us to choose to love Him back.

Lord,
Thank You for loving us and allowing us to love You.
We praise Your Holy Name.
Lead us and guide us by Your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
