God Is Still Good In The Bad Times

We must remind ourselves that God is good.  Sometimes it is hard to remember that in a world that is full of tragic events that seem to unfold before our very eyes on social media, on television, or even on our smart phones.  We all feel affected when bad things happen in our world today.

We see the images on our television screens of the people suffering in Texas and that surrounding region that was so devastated by the storm and the flooding that occurred down there.  It seems so far away from most of us and yet it seems relatively close to us because we can see it on all of our devices.

We are reminded that there is much suffering in our world today and it is not just in a far away land.  There is suffering in our very communities and our own countries.  There is suffering in Aroostook County, where I live in Maine.  There is suffering where you live as well.  Maybe you are suffering in someway and you feel like no one understands what you are going through.

I just want to let you know that God understands and He cares for you and He loves you with a great and everlasting love.  The Lord doesn't want you to suffer, but He knows that we live in a broken world because of sin.  God made a way for us to be reconciled back to Himself through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Lord will provide for us in our suffering and He wants us to help others through their suffering.  The Lord wants us to love Him with all of our hearts, minds, and souls and He wants us to love our neighbor as ourselves.

We believers in Jesus Christ are to be His hands and feet in this world.  We are to proclaim that salvation that is available to everyone through Jesus Christ and we are to help others in their times of need.  When bad things happen God is still good and He is a helper in our time of need.

Father God, Lord,

We praise Your name for You are Holy.
Help us to be Your servants and help those who are suffering.
Empower us through Your Spirit to love our neighbors as ourselves.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
