Walking In The Light

There will be times in our lives when we will feel all alone and loneliness will seem like a constant friend.  There will be times when people reject us for one reason or another.  Sometimes we get rejected by people close to us.  There will be times when certain people just will not like us for some reason and that can hurt very deeply.

It seems like in our day and age it hard to make friends and build strong God centered relationships.  There also seems to be a spiritual dryness lurking about.  Many people just don't seem to be interested in God anymore.  There is a lot of frustration around our world today and in our churches as well.

There are many people who seem more interested in sporting events than they are talking about Jesus Christ and how Awesome He is.  There seems to be something terribly wrong with that picture.  Where is our focus?   Maybe it is time for us to refocus our hearts upon the Lord Jesus and come out from among the worldly standards and start living for Jesus.

I John 1:5-10

5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.

6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth.

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

We believers in Jesus Christ must continue to walk in the light.  We must continue to walk in the truth of who Jesus is and live by the truth of His Holy Word, the Bible.  There may be times when we do feel all alone and perhaps there will be times when we have to walk through a dark valley by ourselves.  We can take comfort in the fact that if we know Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we will never truly be alone.  The Lord promises us that He will never leave us and He will never forsake us.

People may indeed forsake us for one reason or another.  There will be times when someone will be mean to us or treat us badly.  There will be times when we will feel rejected, but we must remember that is we have placed our faith and trust in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross He will not forsake us and He won't reject us.

There will be times when we will sin, but if we confess to the Lord our sins He is faithful and just and He will forgive us our sins.  Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins by dying on the Cross for us.  Jesus took the punishment that we so rightly deserve.

When people do reject us and treat us badly we must forgive them and hand the over to the Lord to deal with in His way and in His timing.  We believers in Jesus Christ must continue to walk in the light if we want true fellowship with Him and with other believers.  We must not grow weary and discouraged.

We must continue to be focused on the Lord Jesus Christ and the work He has for us to accomplish.

Let us continue to walk in the light by living for Jesus and loving each other as He loves us.

Lord,
We praise Your Name.
Sometimes people treat us badly, but help us to forgive them.
We pray for those who are lonely and angry.
I pray for those who feel alone and broken.
Forgive me when I treat others badly and help me to do better.
Lead us and guide us by Your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus Name,
Amen.
