Fixing Our Eyes On the Unseen

Sometimes our troubles seem like they will never go away.  The burdens just seem to pile up on us and weigh us down.  Our troubles seem so hard to cope with at times, don't they?  We wonder if things will ever get better.

The good news is if you are a believer in Jesus Christ then yes, things will one day get better for you when you enter into the Lord's eternal presence in Heaven.  It is easy for us to loose our focus here on the earth where there is much suffering and death.  There is coming a day for the believer and follower of Christ when those afflictions will be a distant memory.

The apostle Paul writes about this in 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 which says,

"Therefore we do not lose heart.  Though outwardly we are wasting away,

yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory

that far outweighs them all.

So we fix out eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.

For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Everything that we see around us will one day go away.  Everything that we see with out very own eyes has a beginning and it will come to an end eventually.  That sounds rather grim, but it is true.  The troubles that we experience won't last for ever either if we are believing in the Lord Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.  If we have rejected the Lord Jesus and His finished work on the Cross then we have no hopeful future ahead of us, but we can only expect divine judgment and to be cast into a literal hell separated from the true living God for all eternity because we rejected His one and only Son who died for the sins of the entire world.

We believers have a great hope, a true living hope, in Jesus Christ.  We must keep our eyes upon Him and the hope of Heaven that lies ahead for every believer in Christ Jesus.

Lord,
Thank You for this day.  Thank You for the hope we have in You.
Help us to have our eyes fixed upon You.
Help us not to be discouraged with the trials that afflict us.
Come Soon Lord Jesus.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
