Placing Our Faith In Jesus

Sometimes our world seems to be falling apart at the seams.  There are times when we will face uncertain circumstances and we aren't sure how things will work out.  Sometimes our faith is shaken to it's core.  We will eventually all face a test of our faith.

When we look at the Bible we see time and time again that the people who followed the Lord had times when their faith was put to the test.  Abraham's faith was tested when God sent him to a mountain where God told him to sacrifice his son, Isaac.  The Lord stopped Abraham from going through with it and provided a ram.  Abraham learned that the Lord provides.

Our faith needs to have times of testing in order for it to grow.  Just like our muscles need to get exercised in order to grow stronger so to does our faith need to exercised.  It is important for us to know what our faith is in.  Many people in our world today say they have faith, but few ever say what their faith is in.

Our faith needs a focus.  It needs to be founded on a firm foundation of truth and security.  God, the Creator of everything seen and unseen, sent His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, because He loved the world so very much so that who ever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).  We can also read Hebrews chapter 11 which goes through the Hall of Fame of people in the Bible that had faith in the Lord and His promises.

The other day we talked about being persistent in our prayers just as the widow was persistent with the unjust judge in seeking justice.  Her persistence paid off.  God is not like the unjust judge.  He invites us to come to Him with prayers of faith.

I live in the State of Maine and a few years ago we ranked towards the bottom of the list of States that had the least amount of faith.  Isn't that sad.  Even people that go to church seem to have a lack of faith at times.  Sometimes it is so very easy just to go with the flow and get trapped in tradition without ever exercising our faith in the Lord.

We rarely hear people proclaiming genuine faith in the Lord in public arenas.  I want my faith to grow.  I want to see the Lord Jesus move in a great and mighty way through my life in and in the lives of those all around me where I live.  I want to live more by faith than by sight.

I believe God is still at work in my life and in the lives of those all around my area.  I believe God has a plan and a wonder purpose that He is working out in His perfect timing.

May we set our sights upon the Lord Jesus Christ for He is the author and finisher of our faith.

Lord,
We praise Your Name.
Increase our faith O Lord.
Grant us a fresh faith.
Help us to see Your hand upon our lives.
Show us Your direction and Help us to know Your purpose.
We surrender ourselves into Your hands.
Help us to walk by faith and not by sight.
You are God and You are in control.
Thank You, Lord, for all that You have done for us.
In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
